The Silkie is named for its atypical fluff which feels like silk or satin. The breed has unusual qualities, such as having five toes on each foot and blue ear lobes, they also have a rare genetic mutation of hyperpigmentation known as fibromelanosis which causes them to have black skin and bones. Silkie's easy going, friendly personalities make them absolutely wonderful pets. Because on there small stature they are easy to house and will lay up to 120 cream or white colored eggs per year.
